Thom Mills – Professional studio session drummer for hire

As a studio session drummer & online session drummer I have had the pleasure of working with a great many artists and bands in a wide range of genres. Whether it be female fronted acoustic alt-folk with Mechanical Bride, to fast paced post-punk with Public Body, I’m proud of my varied CV as a drummer for hire.”

Below you can listen to some of Thom’s drum recordings as a studio session drummer:

“I have also had the great pleasure to work in many different studios across the country, from the legendary Rockfield in Wales, to Maida Vale and Abbey Road to the wonderful studio at Brighton Electric. As well as being a drummer for hire, I have also experience as a session percussionist, working with Foals as an percussion player in 2013.

“I have worked with a range of producers such an Iain Harvie, Simon Barny Barnicott, Tristan Ivemy, Frank Turner and Theo Verney, and pride myself on my open communication, ability to listen and adapt, and the great relationships I develop with those I’m working with. I carry this into everything I do when working with musicians remotely, so I’m certain we will have good time recording your live drum tracks.”

Here are some video highlights of Thom’s time as a professional studio session drummer, please do get in touch if you are looking for an online session drummer for your live drum tracks.

Specialising in Rock, Punk, Indie, Electronic, Alt-Rock and having grown up with these genres as a main influence, these styles have been absorbed into the heart of Thom’s drumming. Thom plays with Dave Grohl’s power and energy, Jon Bonham’s groove and sound, Stewart Copeland’s creativity and precision, and you may also detect other influences from greats such as Ginger Baker & Ilan Rubin in the mix. Open to all genres and an avid music listener, Thom also is able to morph his style and playing to suit any track, style or mood.

Consequently, Thom’s Remote Drum Recording service provides the very same diversity and precision but tailored to slot his drumming directly into your song(s) and productions.

(See below for more information about Thom’s musical biography)

Through the years of being a studio session drummer I have always loved the recording process and the creative space this encourages. This has, for as long as I can remember, always been my favourite area of music; creating an individual drum part that both works with and enhances the song. Starting a remote drum recording service has always been a very natural development for me as a studio session drummer, and the development of modern recording and sharing technology has helped me to achieve my goal to create and collaborate with others around the globe, and provide a service by remotely recording online drum sessions.

When I’m playing, I always put the song first and always to play to enhance the song and not to show off in the drum recording, or go against what is happening in the music. Groove, timing and creativity are my speciality, and I always like to create something truly unique no matter how simple drawing influences from a wide range of styles.

My studio space is professionally treated so that a well balanced amount of tight and dead is mixed with a dash of life and ambience to create a truly warm and rich sound in the room. Combined with my microphone collection, pre-amps and tasteful playing I always deliver great results and very happy clients and great live drum tracks.

So please get in touch and let’s together add that creativity, energy, groove and tastefulness to your songs with my online session drummer recording service.
